On Monday, November 29th, Michael Bentolila was sworn in as the fourth Chief of Police of the City of Aventura. He joined the Aventura Police Department in 1997, shortly after its founding, and has since served across every division, rising through the ranks to lead the department. The swearing-in ceremony, led by Mayor Enid Weisman, brought together police leaders from across Miami-Dade, elected officials, and community figures. Rabbi Jonathan Berkun of the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center delivered the invocation. Chief Bentolila was joined by his wife, Adrienne, and their daughters, Shoshana and Emma.
Chief Bentolila emphasizes community partnership and trust, underscoring that lasting safety is built on understanding, transparency, and collaboration. Quoting Albert Einstein, he noted, “Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.” He also reminded officers of the profession’s noble duty: “The badge we wear is just a few inches of metal… but it comes with a heavy responsibility. Wear it with pride. Treat it with respect. The nobility of this career is both your honor to carry and your responsibility to protect.”

Skilled in Accreditation, Counterterrorism, Firearms Handling, Public Safety, PIO, Community Policing and Emergency Management.
